By default, RFIDLinked displays EPC values in hexadecimal (hex) format. However, depending on the encoding format of your RFID tags, this may not always be the most effective way to interpret the data. Some tags may store ASCII text within the EPC field. To automatically decode ASCII text from these tags, you can configure a new Display Template within RFIDLinked.
Following these instructions will add the EPC (Ascii) as shown below:
From the Home Menu, tap the Settings button, and then tap Display Settings.
Create a new Display Template by tapping the ADD button
Provide a Name for your new Display Template. Then under the Tag Scan and/or Tag Match tab(s), click the Pencil Icon next to the Slot in which you want to show the EPC as Ascii value.
Tap the Tag Field To Display select box, and then select the field labeled EPC (Ascii). This will now set that slot to render the tag's EPC value decoded to ASCII.
You can also setup RFIDLinked to decode the EPC value to ASCII when clicking into a Tag to get more details. To enable this option select the Tag Details tab, and enable the Decode EPC to ASCII option. Then tap the SAVE button to save your new template.
The last step is to select your new template for use. You can do this by tapping the GEAR icon next to your new Display Template, and tapping the Apply Template option.
