The Product Definition Audit feature allows you to quickly verify and reconcile RFID tags in the field by scanning for tags that were previously printed using RFIDLinked. It filters out unrelated tags and gives you a clear view of what has been found - and what may be missing.
Whether you’re auditing inventory in a warehouse, checking tools in a kit, or validating tagged assets across a site, this feature helps ensure everything is accounted for.
What It Does
When you initiate a Product Definition Audit, the app begins scanning for RFID tags. It only includes tags that were printed from Product Definitions within your RFIDLinked account, ignoring all others. Tags are grouped by their associated Product Definition, making it easy to see how many items were found versus how many were expected.
For example:
This indicates that 5 tags for the Coke-a-Cola product were found, out of 27 that have been printed and should exist.
You can drill into each Product Definition to see:
-
Found: A list of tags detected during the audit
-
Missing: Tags that were printed but not found during the scan
-
Printed: A complete list of all tags printed for that Product Definition, with found tags highlighted in green
This makes it easy to identify gaps, recover missing items, and reconcile your physical inventory with your tag records.
Who Should Use It
This feature is ideal for:
-
Warehouse staff performing regular inventory audits
-
Field teams verifying tagged equipment or toolkits
-
Operations or compliance roles checking for missing or misplaced items
-
Anyone using RFIDLinked to print tags and needing to ensure physical items match the digital records
By focusing only on your Product Definitions and known tag records, the Product Definition Audit gives you confidence and clarity in your audits - without manual sorting, spreadsheets, or guesswork.
Using the Product Definition Audit Tool
1. Launch the Audit Tool
From the Home menu, tap RFID Audit to open the Tag Audit Tools menu. Then, tap Product Definition Audit to launch the tool.
2. Start Scanning Tags
Pull the trigger on your RFID scanner to begin collecting tags. As the app identifies tags associated with your Product Definitions, they will appear in a grouped list showing how many were found versus how many were expected based on your print history.
Note: The audit tool only recognizes tags that were printed using Product Definitions from your account. Any other tags detected by the scanner will be ignored automatically.
3. Review Audit Results
Once scanning is complete, tap on any Product Definition in the list to view the full details of what was found:
-
Found Shows all tags that were successfully detected during the audit
-
Missing Displays tags that were previously printed for this Product Definition but were not found in the current scan
-
Printed Shows all tags ever printed for this Product Definition, with found tags highlighted in green for easy comparison
This breakdown allows you to quickly verify whether all expected items are present or identify what's missing.
4. Export Audit Results
Tap the Export button to generate an XLS report of the audit results.
The export includes:
-
A Summary Sheet showing a list of each Product Definition scanned, how many tags were found, how many were expected, and how many are missing
-
A separate sheet for each Product Definition, listing all printed tags and whether they were found or not during the scan
This report is ideal for documentation, sharing with your team, or following up on missing inventory.
