How to Connect Chainway CP30 Printer to RFIDLinked via Bluetooth

Welcome to our guide on connecting/pairing a Chainway CP30 RFID Printer to RFIDLinked. This article will walk you through the pairing process when using Bluetooth. If you prefer a visual guide, feel free to watch the embedded video below.

If you need help with the initial setup of your CP30 printer (ribbon installation, installing a roll of tags, etc...) please see our CP30 Initial Setup guide.

Before Getting Started

You will need the following before getting started:

Pairing via Bluetooth

The CP30 Bluetooth module is an optional add-on card.  Ensure that when you purchased your CP30 that you opted for this add-on, otherwise pairing via Bluetooth will not be possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before you Begin

We have found that the Bluetooth often becomes slightly dislodged during shipping, which may cause problems during the pairing process.  It is highly recommended that if you have just received the printer, to first re-seat the Bluetooth module following the steps outlined below.

How to Re-seat / Install Bluetooth Module

If you purchased the Bluetooth module separately from the printer, or you want to re-seat the module, start by turning off the printer and unplugging its power cord.  Flip the printer over and remove the door on the bottom of the printer exposing its expansion slot.

If installing for the first time the card should be inserted with the corner notch in the top left corner.  Insert the module into the slot, and press until you hear it click into place.

If already installed, press the Bluetooth module in once to release it, and then press it in again to re-seat the card into the slot.  After completing this process, re-install the door to the bottom of the printer, re-insert the power adapter, and power on the printer.

Verify that you see the Bluetooth icon in the top right corner of the CP30 display.

Pairing the Printer with Android

From the home screen, pull down on the display to open the Application Drawer.  Scroll down and tap on the "Settings" icon to open System Settings.  Then from System Settings tap on the "Connected Devices" option.

Tap the "Pair new device" button to begin pairing the CP30. You should see the CP30 show up as an Available Device.  Tap on the CP30 device that has the Printer icon next to it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Sometimes the CP30 shows up as two separate devices.  Make sure you select the CP30 device that has the Printer icon, otherwise you will be able to communicate with the CP30 as a printer.

After confirming your choice to pair the CP30 device, you should now see it listed under your Connected devices.

Setting up the CP30 in RFIDLinked

Open the RFIDLinked application and login.  From the Home menu tap the Settings icon. Then tap the Printer icon to access printer settings.

In the top right corner, tap the Add button to add a new Printer.

Enter a Name for your printer and under Printer Type select Bluetooth Printer.  From the Bluetooth Printers drop down, select the CP30 printer.
You can then verify that RFIDLinked is able to communicate with the printer by tapping the Check Printer button.

Finally click the Save button to complete setting up the printer.

Checking Connectivity and Test Printing

From the listing of setup printers, you can tap the Gear icon next to the printer you have just added.  You can check connectivity with the printer by tapping the Check Connectivity option from the drop down list.
