Introduction to EZ Tags

EZ Tags offer the fastest and simplest way to start printing RFID tags using RFIDLinked - with no setup required beyond configuring your printer.

Designed for users who want to get up and running quickly, EZ Tags allow you to generate and print RFID tags without needing to create Product Definitions, design custom labels, or configure structured data models. Instead, EZ Tags give you four flexible data fields you can use however you like - ideal for small-scale tagging, one-off assets, internal tracking, etc...

Whether you're labeling tools, equipment, samples, or prototypes, EZ Tags give you enough customization to make each tag useful, while keeping the process as streamlined as possible.

Why Use EZ Tags?

  • Minimal Setup  Just configure your printer and start printing. No need to pre-define products or custom fields.

  • Flexible Data Entry  Use up to four fields of data per tag, with customizable field labels.

  • Control What’s Visible  Choose whether each field’s value appears on the printed label or remains stored but hidden.

  • Barcode or QR Support  Optionally add a barcode or QR code to your label and select which field’s value to encode.

  • Two Label Styles  Pick between a QR-based “Classic EZ Tag” or a 1D barcode-based “Asset Tag” layout.

  • Bulk Printing Support  Print tags one by one, or quickly print in bulk via CSV files.

EZ Tags are a great fit for:

  • Users just getting started with RFID

  • Teams managing internal inventory or small asset pools

  • Anyone who values flexibility over rigid structure

When EZ Tags May Not Be the Right Fit

While EZ Tags are ideal for quick, flexible tagging, they are not recommended for more structured or industry-compliant use cases. You should consider using RFIDLinked’s full Product Definition and Label Designer workflow if:

  • You're tagging for retail or supply chain environments
If your tags need to conform to SGTIN-96 (GS1) encoding standards, use the standard Product Definition system.

  • You're integrating with external systems
For use cases involving asset tracking, inventory management, or integrations that rely on structured, consistent data, our main tagging features provide the necessary data architecture and control.

  • You need full control over label layout
If you require custom formatting, dynamic elements, branding placement, or fine-tuned layout adjustments, the Label Designer offers far greater customization options than EZ Tags.
