Welcome to RFIDLinked your complete solution for generating, managing, and printing smart RFID tags. To get the most out of the platform, a few essential setup steps are required. This guide walks you through the high-level on-boarding flow and points you to relevant knowledge base articles for each step along the way.
Step 1: Choose Your Tag Format
The first decision you'll make is whether to use:
-
Retail (SGTIN-96) format, based on GS1 standards - typically used for products sold in Retail, or
-
RFIDLinked Pro Tags, which offer more flexibility and are ideal for internal asset tracking and custom workflows.

Step 2: Define What You’ll Tag and What Data to Track
Next, identify the products or items you want to tag, and consider what data points you want to store alongside each item.
These data points might include things like:
- Size
- Color
- Asset Id
- Compliance or certification flags
- Expiration date
- Location
The data you need to track will inform what Custom Fields you should create.
Step 3: Create Product Definitions
Once you’ve defined your data needs, you can create Product Definitions for each item. Each Product Definition represents a unique item or SKU in your system and will link to the Custom Fields you created in the previous step.
You can create Product Definitions in two ways:
-
Manually through the mobile app or web interface
-
In bulk using our CSV import feature
